BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The Bandung Institute of Technology Student Team won a number of achievements in the 2019 Integrated Petroleum Competition (INCEPTION) organized by Diponegoro University on November 8-9, 2019. The competition was participated in by teams of representatives from various universities in Indonesia.
ITB sent several teams to the competition, including the RIGHT team, the SENSOR team, and the DAHAN team. The KANAN Team, consisting of Aulia Ikhsan Nur Alam, Saif Izeldien Raizki, and Dennis Deviandoni, won first place in the case study competition field. Then the SENSOR Team which only contained Ricky Sahat Manahan Simanjuntak won 1st paper competition, and the DAHAN Team consisting of Dias Gabriel, Nofril Zendriardi, and Hanif Indra Rajasa became 2nd place in the field of smart competition. The students who participated in the competition were from the Petroleum Engineering Study Program, FTTM-ITB.
Each race category has its own theme. For the case competition, the topic raised is actualize the production of million barrels of oil per day in Indonesia. In the preliminary round stage, each team participating in the competition must provide a solution to the case in the form of an essay. Then, at the final round stage, the team that passes will be given a different case and present the solution solution.
According to Saif Izeldien, 2016 Petroleum Engineering students, in participating in this competition each team member must master the competition topics together. It is intended that everyone can backup each other in the midst of the bustle of the final level of lectures.
“When it comes to the division of job desk, I design a workmanship framework and presentation layout, if we have fixed it, then we will do the technical execution. After that, there are other team members evaluating in terms of its finance and adding new innovations that will be applied, “he said.
Meanwhile, in the field of case competition, the KANAN Team innovated oil improvement with two methods, namely Enhance Oil Recovery (EOR) and Infill Drilling. Of the two methods, a feasibility study and risk management are carried out to determine which method will be used to solve the problem.
“So actually the concept of the race is more to decision making, given the case then asked to resolve the case by the method of EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery) or Infill Drilling. Which of the two methods is better to use, “said Dennis Deviandoni, Petroleum Engineering student, 2016.
Previously, the KANAN team also participated in the 2019 PETROFEST UI competition and they won first place in the case study competition field. According to them, taking part in the competition is not just a matter of competing and becoming a champion, but also in the context of applying the knowledge that has been learned on the lecture bench. Because in the process of preparing for the race, a lot of experience or new knowledge is gained, one of which is how to create good teamwork.
